In the Republic of Korea, Sergey Zhilin, a jazz pianist from the Russian Federation, presented a specially prepared concert program with his "Phonograph-Jazz-Quartet". As part of the Russian Seasons international cultural project, the concert took place at The Westin Josun Seoul. The performance was timed to coincide with the year of cultural exchange between Russia and the Republic of Korea.
Sergey Zhilin alongside with his team have a great number of wonderful concert programs which gained recognition and love of listeners, they participated in Russian and international festivals, in shooting of highly rated television projects (“Two stars”, “Property of the Republic”, “The Voice”, “The Voice: Kids”, “The Voice 60+”, etc.) and had more than 30 releases on various media, including not only concert performances, but also studio recordings. There Sergey Zhilin performed in various ways: from solo improvisations and piano duets to jam sessions with colleagues in jazz, blues and rock musicians.
In 2021 the Republic of Korea became the host country of the "Russian Seasons". As soon as the borders are opened and all the opportunities for safe carrying out of events are available, the Directorate of “Russian Seasons” will start the implementation of the planned program. The audience will enjoy performances, ballet performances and exhibitions. Among the planned activities there are:
• Tours of the Eifman Ballet of Saint- Petersburg;
• Concerts of the State symphony orchestra “Novaya Rossiya” under the artistic director Yury Bashmet;
• Festival of folk art «Special Folk Edition»;
• Performances of the Vaganova Ballet Academy;
• Tours of the Mariinsky Theatre.
The project will also involve the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, etc.
“I hope that this year we will be able to implement as many events on the Year of Cultural Exchanges programme as possible. The most important events include the Russia-Korea Interregional Cooperation Forum in Ulsan and the Russian Seasons International Festival. During these events world-famous Russian performers will visit Korea. I have no doubt that through our joint efforts we will strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between our nations, which is the main goal of the Year of Cultural Exchanges, despite the challenges of the pandemic” – said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the opening ceremony of the Year of Mutual Exchanges between the Russian Federation and the Republic Korea, Seoul, March 24, 2021 (reference to mid.ru).
International Cultural Project “Russian Seasons” is a grand-scale project to present Russian culture to the European audience. In 2017 "Russian Seasons" were organized at a high level in Japan, bringing together 250 events in 40 cities. In 2018 "Russian Seasons" captured hearts of Italian people: 310 events in 74 cities. In 2019 the project was hosted by Germany, where 437 events were held in 90 cities with the participation of 90 cultural institutions. In 2020 France, Belgium and Luxembourg became the host countries of “Russian Seasons”. As soon as the situation in the world stabilizes, the tours will be continued in 2021.
