"Body language is the universal language of spiritual communication. Across all civilizations, humans express basic emotions through the same movements. That is why common values inherently unite dance artists. On the other hand, as an artist, I know how important it is to expand my creative horizons constantly. Undoubtedly, acquaintance with Russian culture will spiritually enrich the foreign participants of the Choreography session of the Innopraktika and Russian Seasons School, help them diversify their professional skills, and gain valuable experience. Moreover, a visit to St. Petersburg, one of the largest European capitals of culture and ballet, and exposure to the unique artistic heritage of the city will provide dancers and choreographers with an unforgettable experience", said Boris Eifman , People's Artist of Russia, Artistic Director of the St. Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theatre and President of the Dance Academy.
15 students from 12 countries, including Italy, Northern Macedonia, Romania, Mexico, China, India, the Philippines, Argentina, and others, will participate in the session. 4 choreographers and 11 dancers will come to the cultural capital of Russia for a traditional choreographic session.
"Today marks the beginning of the second choreography session in the history of the School. Most importantly, interest in our project is only growing, with more and more applications from around the world each year. All this happens because the School helps build strong friendships and share fresh creative ideas. It is a unique opportunity for students not only to acquire new professional skills but also to understand Russia and be imbued with Russian traditions," said Alexei Lebedev, director of the Russian Seasons project.
"The interest in the School is also growing because honored cultural and artistic figures have joined the project. Thus, the first part of the program introduces participants to the Academy of Dance and the practice of teaching master classes with teachers of classical and modern dance (contemporary). Classical classes are taught by the Academy's Distinguished Tutor Sergei Zimin and former Mariinsky Theatre soloist and tutor Andrei Ivanov. Olga Vasilyeva, Balazs Baranyai, Ernest Nurgali, and Alexander Chelidze will teach modern dance," said Natalia Popova, first deputy general director of Innopraktika.
Rehearsals of productions begin from the very first week of the session. Renowned choreographers - Konstantin Matulevsky and Konstantin Keichel - will also be working with the students. Choreographers – participants of the "Choreography Laboratory" together with Academy students and dancers – participants of the "Performance Laboratory" together with Russian choreographers are divided into groups and begin to work on their productions. The final work is a joint performance by School participants and Academy students. It will be performed as part of the Second Summer Festival of the Innopraktika School and Russian Seasons.
