With the first swing of the conductor's baton, the sounds, inspired by the airy thrill of childhood, rush forward. Tchaikovsky's suite, titled "A Christmas Tree" from the ballet The Nutcracker, has become a recognizable New Year's Eve symbol. The concert will be broadcast on the official website of the Russian Seasons at 20:00 Moscow time: russianseasons.org.
On Friday, December 30 , viewers of the video platform will see the suite " Christmas Tree" from the ballet The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky performed by the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra. Vladimir Fedoseyev , People's Artist of the USSR and full Cavalier of the Order of Merit to the Fatherland, is the artistic director and chief conductor.
Pyotr Tchaikovsky is one of the greatest classical composers. He is the most popular and well-known Russian composer; his life and work are forever, in their very essence, tied to Russia.
The Nutcracker, in turn, spreads a philosophical message. It is not only the fairytale battles between house mice and dolls that come to life under the Christmas tree, which children love so much. It is a humanistic tale about the hopes of the growing up soul, the anticipation of first love, the desperate willingness to defend their happiness by battling the forces of evil and defeating them.
The Great Symphony Orchestra of the All-Union Radio and Central Television was founded in 1930 as the first orchestra of the Soviet Union. In 1974, Vladimir Fedoseyev became Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the orchestra, under whose guidance the orchestra, building on its traditions, bloomed and prospered. In 1993, on the 100th anniversary of Tchaikovsky's death, the Great Symphony Orchestra was named after Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky for his achievements in developing musical culture and outstanding interpretations of his creative heritage in our country and all over the world.
The broadcast will be available at 20:00 Moscow time on the Russian Seasons website: russianseasons.org.
