1.1.This Regulation (hereinafter, the Regulation) on the procedure for and conditions of the contest for the selection of creative project works (hereinafter, the Contest) — Book Illustration Contest.
1.2.The Contest is organized by All-Russian Public State Organization Russian Culture Foundation in cooperation with Autonomous Non-Profit Organization for Concert Activities Promotion Russian Seasons.
2.Purposes and Objectives of the Contest
2.1. The purpose of the Contest is to create proprietary illustrations for works by Russian writers.
2.2. Objectives of the Contest:
-promotion of discovery of personal creativity of Contest participants;
- popularization of the Russian language and literary heritage at home and abroad;
- identification and support of gifted and talented artists;
- popularization of works by book authors.
3. Contest Participants
3.1. The contest is international and is held for all interested individual artists and creative teams from Russia and other countries. The participants must be between the ages of 21 — 35 years.
4.Contents of the Contest
4.1. Illustrations for one of the books:
- “Scarlet Sails” by Alexander Grin;
- “Kashtanka” by Anton Chekhov;
- “The Blizzard” by Alexander Pushkin;
- “The Shot” by Alexander Pushkin.
5. Procedure for and Dates of the Contest
5.1. Illustrations for the Contest shall be accepted from September 19 through November 15, 2021.
5.2. The Contest shall be summed up, and the submitted works shall be assessed by the Jury before November 30, 2021.
5.3. Winners of the Contest shall be awarded before December 25, 2021
6.Conditions of and Requirements to Illustrations to be Submitted for the Contest
6.1. Illustrations for literary works specified in paragraph 4.1 of this Regulation shall be accepted for participation in the Contest, on electronic media, on paper, or in graphic editors (one illustration or a series of illustrations unified by one general plot), which meet purpose and objectives of the Contest.
6.2. To participate in the Contest, one participant may submit 5 works maximum.
6.3. Illustrations on paper of 140х210 mm minimum or in a JPEG file of 600х800 dpi with a resolution of 72 dpi minimum shall be accepted for the Contest. Captures for works are mandatory. It is allowed to process illustrations to be sent for the Contest using computer programs (graphic editors).
6.4. Maximum file size is 20 Mb.
6.5. Works are accepted for the Contest by electronic link, on flash drives, or as a drawing on paper sent to: 6/1, Gogolevsky Boulevard, Moscow 119019, Russian Culture Foundation, or by email:firstname.lastname@example.org
6.6. Please fill out and attach an application questionnaire for participation for the creative work with an indication of full name, place of residence, contact details (telephone, email), education, and occupation.
6.7. When emailing materials, please put “Book Illustration Contest” in the Subject field.
6.8. The copyright for the Works participating in the Contest belongs to their authors.
6.9. The Foundation may use the materials sent by participants for advertising and other purposes without notifying the author and without paying any royalty remuneration.
6.10. Material with the content contradicting the current legislation of the Russian Federation or inconsistent with common moral and ethical standards shall not be published and may not participate in the Contest.
7. Summing up the Contest and Awarding the Winners
7.1. Works shall be evaluated by the Contest Jury.
7.2. The Jury shall be guided in its activities by this Regulation and shall evaluate works by the following criteria:
-completeness and depth of subject development;
-originality of subject development;
7.3.The Jury has the right not to consider the works that do not meet the requirements of the Contest.
7.4.In their activities, the Contest Jury shall be guided by the purpose and objectives of the contest and shall determine winners of the Contest based on the criteria determined by Section 7.2. of the Regulation. The Jury shall determine the Contest Winners by an open vote of at least 2/3 of the nominal roll. The decision of the Jury shall be final.
7.5. Contest Winners shall be invited to Moscow to be awarded Letters of Gratitude and to take part in the excursion and entertainment program.
7.7.The best illustrations shall be used in the publishing of the books specified in paragraph 4.1 of this Regulation.
7.8.Contest Winners shall receive up to 10 author’s copies of books.
7.9. The best illustrations shall be published on the website and on social media of organizers and partners of the Contest
