On Wednesday, June 17, the audience will see yet another company from the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic, the Ural Academic Philharmonic Orchestra. The programme features music of the great German composer Ludwig van Beethoven and his Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus ballet (the only ballet written by the master), Piano Concerto No. 3 (c-moll) and Symphony №5.
Beethoven's Fifth is charged with the spirit of self-esteem, the energy of heroism and humanistic philosophy. Composer's contemporaries would often compare him to the Greek titan-god Prometheus. Beethoven often said about his Piano Concerto No. 3: 'I keep the best concerts to myself' Keeping it from publishing until it's premier he was the first to play the concerto as soloist in April 1803.
The Urals musicians originally performed on September 27, 2019 in the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic Concert Hall (Ekaterinburg) conducted by Dmitry Liss who is also their artistic director. A famous piano player Vadim Kholodenko soloed at the opening.
In December 2020, the musical world will celebrate Ludwig van Beethoven's 250 years anniversary. Throughout the season, the Sverdlovsk State Academic Philharmonic Society supported the jubilee events in dedication of the composer starting from the first opening concert on 27th of September.
